Get Ready for Outdoor Adventures at the 2018 Progressive® Insurance Northwest Sportshow March 22-25, 2018

Four days of outdoor fun and sales on the best fishing and hunting products, travel adventures, RV’s, and boats - plus the largest marketplace for tackle in the United States

Minneapolis, Minn. – March 2, 2018 – The Progressive® Insurance Northwest Sportshow sets up camp March 22-25 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The annual outdoors event features everything from the newest camping, hunting and fishing gear to new boats and travel booths, plus fun for all ages including the new LIVE Shark Encounter - in Minnesota for the first time, this exhibit will offer   attendees an opportunity to get up close to a variety of shark species and learn about the lives of these amazing underwater predators. 

Show favorites also return, including the Trout Pond, Kids’ Create-A-Crankbait and the Wild Turkey Room, along with educational seminars from the top fishing experts in the country.  

Highlights of the 2018 Progressive® Insurance Northwest Sportshow:

  • NEW! LIVE Shark Encounter. Visitors will see several species of shark up close and personal in a huge aquarium. Experts will dispel myths surrounding these mysterious and misunderstood creatures and shine a light on the importance of shark conservation.
  • Fishing Seminars. The lineup of professional anglers and outdoorsmen and women includes Jon Thelen, “Tackle” Terry Tuma, Kevin Naze, Matt Thompson, Brian “Bro” Brosdahl, Jeremy Smith, “Bobber” Annie Orth, Josh Douglas, Josh Borovsky and Jay Suhsen. They will discuss species-specific fishing tips and overall angling techniques including kayak fishing and fishing basics for kids. See seminar schedule here.
  • Fishing Demonstrations at the Hawg Trough. An impressive 10,000-gallon tank will host a variety of Minnesota-native fish. Visitors to the show can watch professional anglers demonstrate casting and see how the fish respond to different bait and casting methods.
  • Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. On March 23 at 5:00pm, attendees can witness the induction ceremony of Gord Ellis and Annie Orth into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.  
  • Marine Electronics University. Visitors to the show can experience the latest in marine electronics technology from Lowrance. Experts will conduct hands-on workshops with Lowrance HDS GEN3 Touch units.   
  • Kids’ Create-a-Crankbait. Kids can create their own crankbait courtesy of Tips Outdoors Foundation. They’ll provide a rattling crankbait plastic body to color and adorn with stick-on lure features.
  • Ducks Unlimited Room. Ducks Unlimited’s seminars teach visitors of all ages about waterfowl and wetlands conservation. Visitors can also contribute to the future of waterfowl hunting through raffles, silent auctions and free Duck Decoy painting for kids (while supplies last).
  • Free fishing at the Trout Pond. A returning fan favorite, kids can practice their angling skills at The Trout Pond where they catch-and-release live trout in an indoor pond.
  • Wild Turkey Room. The National Wild Turkey Federation Room gets visitors ready for spring turkey hunts with educational seminars. Kids will enjoy creating turkey calls (while supplies last), a wild turkey coloring contest and JAKES Take Aim air gun range. On Friday and Saturday from 5:00pm-7:00pm, the Zoomobile will be on hand featuring live wild animals to teach visitors about their important roles in nature.
  • Hunter’s Laser Shot Gallery. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Firearms Safety Program will be at the show to teach safe hunting practices with laser hunting games.
  • Licenses for outdoors activities. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources booth will have hunting and fishing licenses available.
